  Technologies de conversion

De nouvelles stratégies réactionnelles basées sur de courts temps de contact, l'induction d'effets
thermo- mécano-chimiques et l'action catalytique sont développées par l'équipe de recherche
dirigée par le Pr Chornet, le Groupe de recherche sur les technologies et procédés de conversion
ou GRTPC, visant la conversion valorisante de biomasses, résidus et déchets organiques.
L'approche suivie est la déstruc- turation, la désagrégation et la conversion (thermo- catalytique
ou biochimique) des matières traitées visant leur valorisation. L'élaboration de modèles réactionnels
basés sur des cinétiques non homogènes constitue le but majeur des travaux de recherche.

Les applications des travaux de recherche sont très diversifiées et s'insèrent dans une vision futuriste
où des raffineries de biomasse et de déchets constitueront un des moteurs économiques du XXIe siècle.
Une forte proportion des activités est développée en collaboration avec le secteur industriel. Tout projet
de recherche visant la formation exige le développement de connaissances fondamentales ainsi que
l'application de ces connaissances à des cas spécifiques.

Une approche transdisciplinaire et systémique est étudiée et vise le développement de nouveaux
modèles d'aide à la décision dans la gestion des déchets à l'échelle régionale. L'objectif est l'intégration
des analyses scientifiques, technologiques et économiques autour de problèmes environnementaux
concrets, avec des aspects éthiques, éducationnels, sociaux; impact sur la santé et communication/information
visant la synthèse de nouveaux modèles non hiérarchisés.

Ce nouveau domaine de recherche s'insère dans une vision systémique du rôle de la science et de
la technologie dans un monde complexe où les approches disciplinaires et linéaires sont désormais
insuffisantes pour répondre aux contraintes et aux besoins sociaux. Selon notre vision, l'ingénieur
est le nouvel humaniste du XXIe siècle, devenant l'intégrateur et le modélisateur des systèmes
complexes et non homogènes caractéristiques des problèmes environnementaux.
